It was the favored hand weapon of the pirates of the galaxies. Once you get your hands on it - you won?t take any prisoners either. Shaped like a 17th Century single-shot flintlock pistol - the Klingon Disruptor prop replica is the weapon used by Klingons in the original STAR TREK series. Colors and finishes of the metal components accurately match the original television prop. Like the Type 1 Phaser cover - the emitter fins have a diamond pattern plate. The distinctive and familiar ?sonic warble - ? taken directly from the original studio sound effects tapes - is activated by a single button on the control panel. Comes with a custom display case - numbered display plaque and plaque holder. Approximate replica dimensions: 13?L x 2.7?W x 6.3?H Purchase includes a one-year membership in Master Replicas Collectors Society. Limited Edition ? 1 - 500. Klingons - archenemies of the United Federation of Planets - are fierce warriors to the end with no tolerance for weakness. Their fearsome weapon of choice is the disruptor. Similar in shape to a classic flintlock pistol - the handheld disruptor uses highly concentrated sound waves to destroy its intended target. Klingons don?t take prisoners - therefore the disruptor lacks a ?stun? setting and so a strike with a disruptor means instant death. For the television series - there were several versions of the disruptor props made of wood - plastic - and machined aluminum and stainless steel. The inspiration for the disruptor was the ?Emeniar VII? hand weapons seen in the STAR TREK episode - A Taste of Armageddon. The shape of the disruptor - however - was modified with a longer and more-detailed front end. The actual original series props did not incorporate any lights or electrical effects - and in fact - a disruptor is never shown being fired in any episode of the original series. In the first season episode - Errand of Mercy - one hears disruptors being fired - but one never sees the results. Later - the Klingons share their technology with the Romulans - who adopt their disruptor design as well as use their ship design (The Enterprise Incident). In order to accurately recreate the complex geometry of the Klingon?s weapon - Master Replicas? design team examined one of the surviving original film props in the possession of a private collector. Hundreds of measurements and photographs were taken - and the prop was digitally scanned in order to develop a precise rendering of the original prop. To enhance the appeal of the collectible - we added the ?sonic warble? sound effect - which was obtained directly from the Desilu studio?s sound effects tapes.
